Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan is all set to enter Bollywood. The 24-year-old, who graduated from Columbia University last year, will be launched by director and producer Karan Johar.
Ever since Sara graduated from university news started circulating that she is keen to act. Her mother, actress Amrita Singh, reportedly spent months looking for that perfect film and role for her debut. Earlier there were reports of Sara debuting in the Student Of The Year 2. [Student Of The Year released in 2012, launching the careers of Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.]
It’s been said Sara’s parents rejected the film fearing their daughter would be compared with Alia Bhatt. They wanted a fresh debut for her.
There were also speculations of Sara and Ishaan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor’s half brother, getting launched in a film together though he’s now doing acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi’s film, for which even Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut auditioned.
Amrita Singh spent months and months meeting producers and directors, reading scripts and finding the right launchpad for her daughter. Now Karan Johar has taken matters into his hands and is weaving the right role for Sara. The film is supposed to release next year.
It’s speculated that Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is now married to Saif Ali Khan and is best friends with Johar, asked him for this favour. It’d be interesting to see if Sara can really act or not, because it’s so easy for star kids to get launched in a big banner film.
