Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has become a single parent to twins, a boy and a girl, via surrogacy. The twins were born on February 7, at Masrani Hospital under the guidance of Dr Jatin Shah, who delivered actor Tusshar Kapoor’s son last year.
The 44-year-old, best known for directing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan, has named the twins after his parents. The boy has been christened Yash, after his late father, filmmaker Yash Johar, while the girl is named Roohi, rearranged from his mother’s nameHiroo Johar.
The Dharma Production head released an official statement after the news got leaked.
Karan is the second high-profile person to become a single father. Actor Tusshar Kapoor welcomed a son, Laksshay, through surrogacy last year. Before them SRK-Gauri, Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao and Sohail-Seema Khan have opted for surrogacy.
