Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif split up after six years

The news of troubles in their paradise have been surfacing for years but they have always been silent. The stories of Ranbir’s fondness for his ex-girlfriend and his parents reluctance to accept Katrina Kaif have been doing rounds for long and Katrina herself hinted at ‘third party’ influence in her relationship.

The couple began dating during the shoot of their first film together – Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani – in 2009. At that time Katrina was in a relationship with actor Salman Khan while Ranbir was dating Deepika Padukone. They became friends during the shooting of the film and soon their chemistry was visible. Ranbir’s then girlfriend Deepika Padukone caught him cheating on her and broke up with him.

During the same year they both started shooting for their second film together – Rajneeti. Kapoor and Kaif spent much time together and grew closer. In early 2010, Katrina broke up with Salman Khan who she had been dating since 2003.

Though both Ranbir and Katrina have been private about their relationship news of their impending engagement and marriage has been written about for long. In 2013, their beach holiday pics were leaked and it became evident that they were indeed a couple. The couple began living together in 2014 in a Mumbai apartment.

Kapoor’s parents have told the media several times how unhappy they’re with their son’s personal life. The Kapoors have never really liked Katrina and this is termed to be the main reason behind their separation. Also, Ranbir wasn’t proposing to her or even talking about marriage while Katrina wanted to settle down and be a married woman.

In all, this is one of the biggest breakups in Bollywood yet it was long due. Ranbir has moved out from the apartment he shared with Katrina while she is taking help from Salman Khan to recover and mend her broken heart.
