Rani Mukherjee just added another feather to her hat – motherhood. The 37-year old actress gave birth to her first child with hubby Aditya Chopra – daughter Adira.

- Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat(1997)
This was Rani’s debut film at age 19. She played the role of a rape victim who is forced to marry her rapist. Though her performance was appreciated the film was a commercial failure. She even briefly quit acting but tried again on her mother’s insistence.
- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
Karan Johar cast Mukherjee in his directorial debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Though her role was small she did manage to left her imprint. This was also her breakthrough role that garnered her wide media attention and a Filmfare Awards Best Supporting Actress trophy.
- Saathiya (2002)
In this Shaad Ali directed film she played medical student Suhani Sharma who is tensed and discontent after being married at a young age. For her performance she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
- Hum Tum (2004)
Rani starred opposite Saif Ali Khan in this blockbuster hit. The film shows the journey of two lovers during a period of over years.
- Veer Zaara (2004)
Though the film focused on Veer (Shah Rukh Khan) and Zaara’s (Preity Zinta) relationship, Rani still managed to give a well-appreciated role as a Pakistani lawyer Saamiya Siddiqui. The film was the highest grossing film of the year.
- Black (2005)
Rani played the role of Michelle, a blind-mute-deaf girl in this critically acclaimed Sanjay Leela Bhansali film which also starred legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. For her role, she studied sign language at the Helen Keller Institute in Mumbai.
The film won two National Film Awards and eleven Filmfare Awards. Mukherjee became the only actress to win both the Best Actress and Best Actress – Critics trophies at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.
- Bunty Aur Babli (2005)
After Black, Rani played a con woman in this YRF film opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The film was the second highest grossing film of that year.
- Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006)
Rani teamed up with director Karan Johar again in this movie sharing screen with friends Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta. Though the film drew criticism for showing infedelity it still was a commercial success.
- No One Killed Jessica (2011)
After a few years of flops Rani enthralled all with her powerful performance as TV journalist Meera. The film was based on the Jessica Lal murder case. Vidya Balan played Jessica’s sister.
- Mardaani (2014)
This was her final film in which she played Shivani Shivaji Roy, a policewoman. She won accolades for her powerhouse performance.
